The History of Semarang State University
UNNES has stood since 1965 in Semarang, the old city is the provincial capital of Central Java. With six faculty and one graduate program, currently educating approximately 21 000 students UNNES scattered in the levels of courses Diploma, Bachelor, and Graduate

The history of Semarang State University who formerly named IKIP Semarang has begun with the establishment of teacher education institutions in the SMTA. Teacher education institutions are:
BI Course and Course B-II MiddelbaarOnderwijzerACursus (MO-A) and B OnderwijzerMiddelbaarCursus (MO-B) is an institution set up by the Dutch colonial government aims to prepare teachers SMTP and SMTA. Course MO MO-A and-B was held in Semarang until the year 1950. By Government Regulation No.41/1950, MO-A Course be Course Course MO-BI and B used the B-II Course held until the year 1960.

Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and High School Sports (STO) On January 1, 1961, with the decision of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Teaching and Culture No. 108 487 / S dated December 27, 1960, BI Course and Course B-II integrated into a Diponegoro University Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). In 1963, the Department of Physical Education which was originally part of the Course B-II split into High School Sports (STO), which stood alone under the Ministry of Sports. Extention Course and IKIP Tegal, Semarang branch. Founded in several places, both inside and outside the city of Semarang to meet the aspirations of elementary school teachers, SMTP and SMTA who want to continue their studies at Teachers' Training College for teacher training in Semarang. Integration of educational institutions Updates Guidance and Culture (LP3K) and the School Sports Tinggo (STO) LP3K established by the Department of Education and Culture with the purpose of formal education villages with the demands of life and modernization of rural areas.
