NARRATIVE TEXT :

JAKA TARUB AND NAWANGWULAN

Long time ago, there were seven fairies lived in heaven. In a sunny day, they went to the earth to swim on a beautiful lake. They put down their shawls on the big stone and began to swim together.

Meanwhile, a handsome man was hunting for animals. He heard some noises from the lake. He was very amazed recognizing there were seven beautiful girls on the lake. In short, he wanted to take one of shawls and hid it on his rice barn.

After finishing their swim, the fairies took back their shawls and came back to the heven. But one of them could not do that because her shawls disappeared. She was Nawangwulan. She cried on the edge of the lake.

The man, Jaka Tarub, came to Nawangwulan and tried to help her. Because she did not have anyone on earth, she accepted his help. She lived and married with him. Then, they lived happily for several years wih prosperity. Nawangwulan could use her power as a fairy to make a basket of rice from a seed of paddy. But Jaka Tarub did not know about it and became curious.

One day, Nawangwulan had to go to river when she was still cooking the rice. So she asked Jaka Tarub to watch over the rice without open the cover. But he did not obey her instruction and then he knew about the magic. Since that, Nawangwulan could not use her power and the rice barn began to decrease bit by bit.

One morning when Nawangwulan wanted to cook rice, she found her shawl on the rice barn. Finally, she recognized that Jaka Tarub was the person who stole her shawl on the lake. She was very angry and considered to left him. She came back to the heaven immediately.

Jaka Tarub knew about that and he felt very sad. He regreted all that he have done.
